1. Pre-consumer recycled yarns are based on yarn and fabric rests that occur at different production steps. The technology is well-developed, especially for PA6. That is why in PA6 we offer 100% recycled content in the yarns, whereas PA66 is 60% recycled content.
Post-consumer recycling, especially textile-to-textile (recycling of used garments) is more complex, as different fibres are often mixed and the presence of Elasthan hinders the recycling process or makes it impossible, if the % of Elastane is high. There are however numerous promising technologies in development. We cooperate with the Slovenian Institute IOS in the field of textile-to-textile recycling trials.
2. Post-consumer recycled yarns are at the present stage of development and available in two alternatives:
3. Recycled Polyester is made from 100% recycled PET bottles that are collected and recycled locally. Our recycled dyed polyester is a high-performance yarn, that is used in sports, compression, narrow-fabrics, weaving and many other applications.
4. We also offer post-consumer recycled polyamide, where the recycled content is based on a mass-balance approach. Dyed yarn options are available both in PA6 (Blufibre) and PA66 (Q-Cycle). In both cases, 98%-100% non-fossil feedstock is used to produce the yarns (in a mass balance approach). Used, end-of-life car tires are processed with special technology and transformed into a premium performance yarns. The certification for the raw material in this case is not GRS (Global Recycled Standard), but ICSS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification).
And yes, that is the reason why we call all our sustainable yarns – DyeCare yarns. The main advantages are water savings, which are above 50% for polyester and above 30% for polyamide.
